August 2nd, 2011 — Meetings

Many thanks to Deloitte Online for hosting last month’s event. Not only did they put on a great spread, but we also got to hear from Bradley Clayton and Vlado Grancaric about the challenges they faced with enterprise distribution of their business continuity app, Bamboo.

Patrick Richards also gave us a run down of DCIntrospect, a nifty little utility he created that allows you to inspect and manipulate the view hierarchy of your app while its running in the simulator.

Due to unfortunate technical difficulties (a blown power supply), we don’t have any video of July’s event, but I believe Oliver did manage to capture some audio so you might get an audio podcast yet.

You can read more about the night at Deloitte Online’s Blog.

Wow, I’m getting a bit of a backlog here, but I just wanted to thank REA for hosting another successful Melbourne Cocoaheads back in May. As usual there was plenty of pizza and cold beer on offer and some great talks too.

Thanks again to Steven and Luke for speaking on the night. Their talks will be up shortly.
Cheers

This meeting we have Steve Holloway from REA lined up to do a talk on open/closed design principals and how to use them in practice. Luke Tupper has also offered to do a book review/presentation on the ideas in the book “App Savvy” and the parts he’s implemented.
We can probably fit in another lightning talk if anyone is interested, otherwise we might make it up on the night.
Cheers
Sean.
